Who Makes the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Beers and Wines? (Includes the New Releases From August 2023)

Did you know that the Star Wars beers and wines at Oga’s Cantina are exclusive to the Dinsey Parks? Branded to fit in the Star Wars universe, several real-world breweries produce special beers, ciders, and seltzers that are inspired by then films, TV shows, and books.

Whether you are planning for your trip to Black Spire Outpost or you want to recreate the Oga’s Cantina experience at home, here is everything you need to know about the beers and wines available in Galaxy’s Edge.

We cover who makes the Star Wars beers and wines for Galaxy’s Edge. Plus, we outline what beverages have changed since both lands originally opened.

Who Makes the Wines and Beers for Oga’s Cantina at Galaxy’s Edge?

Disney worked with several companies to create unique beers and wines for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

The beers in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are made by Angry Orchard, Ballast Point, Blue Point, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Blue Point, Sierra Nevada, and Terrapin. Goldschmidt Vineyards in Sonoma, California, makes the wines for Oga’s Cantina.

Here is who makes each beer and wine served at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge:

  • Bad Motivator IPA – Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
  • Gamorrean Ale – New Belgium Brewing Company
  • Gold Squadron Lager – Blue Point Brewing Company
  • Trandoshan Ale – Dogfish Head Brewery (Formerly Concrete Beach Brewing Company)
  • White Wampa Ale – Ballast Point Brewing Company
  • Spice Runner Hard Cider – Angry Orchard Cider Company
  • Imperial Guard Wine – Goldschmidt Vineyards
  • Toniray Wine – Goldschmidt Vineyards
  • Black Squadron Lager – Delahunt Brewing Company
  • Sesid Seltzer – Garage Brewing Co.
  • Surabat Valley Harvest Brew – Terrapin Beer Company

The beers are available by the glass or in a beer flight. The beer flight comes in unique rancor tooth glasses that you get to take home.

Individual beers range from $14.25 to $15.25, and the flight costs $86 at Disneyland. Prices at Disney World are slightly lower, ranging from $13.50 to $13.75, with the flight costing $85.

When Oga’s Cantina first opened at Disneyland on May 31, 2019, there were four beers, a cider, and two wines on draft.

The same beverages were served at Oga’s when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Walt Disney World in Florida on August 29, 2019. However, a new beer made by Concrete Beach Brewing Company was added exclusively to Ronto Roasters in Batuu East.

In May 2022, Galaxy’s Edge in California added two new beverages made by Delahunt Brewing and Garage Brewing Co. Both breweries are located in Southern California.

In August 2023, Oga’s Cantina at GE East added Surabat Valley Harvest Brew by Terrapin Beer Co. It is also available at the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge aboard the Disney Wish.

Everything You Need To Know About the Beers and Wines at Oga’s Cantina

From who makes them to the origins behind the names, here is everything you need to know about the beers and wines available at Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Bad Motivator IPA – Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (Chico, California)

A tropical-style India pale ale, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company makes Bad Motivator IPA. It features galaxy and comet hops that contribute grapefruit, tangerine, peach, and passion fruit flavors.

The name Bad Motivator comes from a line in A New Hope. While Uncle Owen and Luke are buying droids from the Jawas, R5-D4 malfunctions. Luke says, “This R2 unit has a bad motivator, look!”

R5-D4 goes on to appear in The Mandalorian, showing various stages of repairs after their motivator mishap.

The third largest craft brewery in the country, Sierra Nevada is best known for their flagship Pale Ale. Founded in Chico, California, they opened a second location in Mills River, North Carolina, in 2014.

Gamorrean Ale – New Belgium Brewing Co. (Fort Collins, Colorado)

New Belgium Brewing Company makes the Gamorrean Ale, a red ale brewed with roasted caramel malts and grapefruit. It also has a slightly hoppy character that sets it apart from other red ales.

This ale shares its name with the pig-like humanoids native to the planet Gamorr. According to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: Traveler’s Guide to Batuu, it is one of Hondo Ohnaka’s favorite beverages.

Jabba the Hutt used Gamorreans as guards in Return of the Jedi. Gamorreans are featured prominently in The Book of Boba Fett and also appeared in The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian.

Founded in Fort Collins, Colorado, New Belgium is best known for their flagship beer Fat Tire Amber Ale. They also make a line of Voodoo Ranger IPAs and a variety of Belgia-inspired ales and sours.

Gold Squadron Lager – Blue Point Brewing Co. (Patchogue, New York)

Blue Point Brewing Company makes Gold Squadron Lager. The light, gold-colored lager features hints of lavender and plum. Light and crisp, the beer is named after the famous Rebel Alliance starfighter squadron.

Captain Jon “Dutch” Vander commanded Gold Squadron during the Battle of Scariff and the Battle of Yavin, as seen in Rogue One and A New Hope, respectively.

Now a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, Blue Point opened in Patchogue, New York, in 1998. Their flagship beer is Toasted Lager, a smooth, easy-drinking American lager. They also make a line of Sunship IPAs and a variety of other beer styles.

In addition to being served at Oga’s Cantina, it is also sold a beverage cart on Merchant Row in Black Spire Outpost at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

Trandoshan Ale – Dogfish Head Brewing Co. (Miami, Florida)

Concrete Beach Brewery originally made Trandoshan Ale, a spiced wheat ale brewed with blood orange. However, Dogfish Head Brewing Company has made the beer since at least 2021. The beer has a tart and unique flavor profile that is reminiscent of spicy, fruity saisons or mild fruited sour ales.

The amber-colored ale takes its name from the reptilian humanoid species native to Trandosha. Trandoshan Ale first appeared in the Outlander Club scene where someone offers to sell Obi-Wan Kenobi death sticks in Attack of the Clones.

The bounty hunter Bossk, seen in The Empire Strikes Back and a number of The Clone Wars episodes, is a Trandoshan.

Located in Miami, Concrete Beach closed in late 2020 and was rebranded as Dogfish Head in 2021. Although Dogfish Head had already been operating out of the facility for some time, the rebranded location officially opened on May 21, 2021.

Both breweries are owned by the Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams, Angry Orchard, and Twisted Tea.

The Trandoshan Ale is usually exclusive to Ronto Roasters at Walt Disney World in Florida. However, it does occasionally appear at Oga’s Cantina if one of the other beers is temporarily unavailable.

White Wampa Ale – Ballast Point Brewing Co. (San Diego, California)

A classic hefeweizen-style beer, Ballast Point Brewing Company makes the White Wampa Ale. Crisp and refreshing, White Wampa has light banana and citrus notes that are characteristic of the style.

At Disneyland, you can see casks of White Wampa above the bar, featuring a clawed wampa hand and the words “wampa ale” written in Aurebesh.

The name is a reference to the carnivorous wampa ice creatures native to Hoth. One of the creatures attacks Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.

Based in San Diego, California, and found in 1996, Ballast Point is best known for their Sculpin series of India pale ales.

They were purchased by Constellation Brands in 2015. The Chicago-based brewery Kings and Convicts acquired them from Constellation Brands in 2019.

Spice Runner Hard Cider – Angry Orchard Cider Co. (Walden, New York)

Angry Orchard Cider Company makes Spice Runner Hard Cider. It has a crisp apple flavor and the right balance of sweetness and acidity.

Known for its distinctive dark red color, the name comes from the spice runners that smuggled spice throughout the Outer Rim. Notable spice runners include Han Solo, Poe Dameron, and Zorii Bliss.

It is a favorite beverage of Black Spire Station proprietor Salju. Resistance spy Vi Moradi also enjoys the occasional Spice Runner.

Owned by the Boston Beer Company, Angry Orchard operates a 60-acre orchard in Hudson Valley, New York. They make a variety of hard ciders, including their flagship Crisp Apple.

While the Spice Runner originally appeared at both Oga’s Cantina locations, it is currently only available on Batuu East in Flordia.

Imperial Guard – Goldschmidt Vineyards (Sonoma, California)

California winery Goldschmidt Vineyards makes the Imperial Guard wine. The wine has a deep red color and features cherry and raspberry aromas, red berry flavors, and hints of caramel, chocolate, and spice.

Fully Clad Crimson-Colored, Nicely Focused Red Cherry and Raspberry aromas combined robust Red Berry Fruit Flavors, a touch of Caramel, Dark Chocolate, and spice with Long, Supple Tannins

The wine takes its name from the Emperor’s Royal Guard, known for their distinctive red uniforms. Originally called the Red Guard, they served Chancellor Palpatine throughout the Separatist Crisis and Clone Wars until the fall of the Empire.

Also called the Imperial Royal Guard or Imperial Guard, they were extremely loyal to the Emperor. They appeared in Attack of the Clones, The Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith, and Return of the Jedi.

Winemaker Nick Goldschmidt started Goldschmidt Winery with his wife Yolyn in 1998. Using grapes from vineyards around the world, they produce a variety of styles for several different Goldschmidt wine labels.

Toniray – Goldschmidt Vineyards (Sonoma, California)

Goldschmidt Vineyards also makes the Toniray wine. With a distinct teal color, the wine has bright apple, lemon, and apricot flavors with a subtle vanilla character.

For generations, several different styles of Toniray were produced on Alderaan. Queen Breha Organa would occasionally serve it at dinner parties in the Royal Palace of Alderaan.

The wine was somewhat rare, causing some connoisseurs to collect bottles of specific vintages. Toniray became even more rare after the destruction of Alderaan.

So far, the wine has not appeared on screen, but it is mentioned in a number of Star Wars books.

Black Squadron Lager – Delahunt Brewing Co. (San Clemente, California)

Exclusive to Batuu West at Disneyland, Delahunt Brewing Company makes Black Squadron Lager. Brewed with honey, it has a light and slightly sweet flavor. The beer debuted as part of the May the Fourth celebration at Black Spire Outpost in California on May 4, 2022.

Named for the Resistance starfighter squadron founded by Poe Dameron, General Leia Organa sent Black Squadron on a secret mission to find Lor San Tekka. They also had several engagements with the First Order.

Black Squadron appeared in the Poe Dameron comic series, but the group disbanded shortly before the events of The Force Awakens.

A relative newcomer to the craft beer scene, Delahunt Brewing Company opened in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are known for their flagship beers Overcast Double Hazy IPA, Sunbather Blonde Ale, and Salvatore Italian Pilsner.

Exclusive to Batuu West in California, Black Squadron Lager appears to have replaced Gold Squadron Lager. It is unclear if this is a permanent change.

Sesid Seltzer – Garage Brewing Co. (Murrieta, California)

Garage Brewing Co. makes the Sesid Seltzer, a tropical seltzer with pineapple and orange flavors. Like Black Squadron Lager, it debuted at Oga’s Cantina on May 4, 2022.

The seltzer takes its name from an aquatic planet along the Sanctuary Pipeline between Sullust and Endor in the Outer Rim Territories.

Prior to the Battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi, Leia Organa visited the planet during a misinformation campaign to keep the Rebel Alliance’s plans to destroy the second Death Star secret from the Emperor.

The planet has not appeared in any Star Wars film or television show to date.

Founded in 2013, Garage Brewing Company started as a brewpub in what was once an old garage. Their name is also a nod to the origins of craft brewing as a garage hobby.

Now operating from their taproom and production facility in Murrieta, California, they offer six core beers and a number of rotating seasonal options.

Sesid Seltzer is exclusive to Oga’s Cantina at Disneyland in California, replacing the Spice Runner Hard Cider. Disney has not confirmed if this is a temporary or permanent change.

Surabat Valley Harvest Brew – Terrapin Beer Company (Athens, GA)

Also called the Batuuan Harvest Brew, Terrapin Beer Company makes the Barabat Valley Harvest Brew. It is a gose (pronounced gos-uh) style beer that is tart and slightly salty with hints of watermelon.

The Surabat Valley Harvest Brew debuted at Oga’s Catina at Galaxy’s Edge East in Walt Disney World in the middle of August 2023. It appears to have replaced the White Wampa Ale, which has been intermittently available for some time.

The beer is named after the valley where explorer Ariana Surabat first landed after finding Batuu. Surabat founded the first settlements on Batuu in that valley.

Terrapin lists the beer as “Batuuan Harvest Brew” in the popular beer check-in app Untappd. Along with Terrapin’s Mustafarian Black Ale, the Batuuan Harvest Brew originally appeared at the immersive Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge. The lounge opened aboard the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish ship on July 14, 2022.

Batuuan Harvest Brew replaced the Trandoshan Ale, which was itself a replacement for the White Wampa Ale. It is unclear if this change is permanent or just a temporary replacement due to availability.

Where Can You Find the Galaxy’s Edge Beers and Wines?

Unfortunately, all of these Star Wars-themed beers are served exclusively in the Disney Parks. This includes Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida.

Since March 1, 2022, most of the beers and wines have also been available aboard the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

The Bad Motivator, Gamorrean Ale, Gold Squadron Lager, Trandoshan Ale, and Toniray wine are served in both the Sublight Lounge and the Crown of Corellia Dining Room. The Halcyon also features a number of other exclusive beverages unique to that experience.

Although they are exclusive to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can create your own Oga’s Cantina experience by substituting a number of different beverages.

With the right glassware, coasters, and soundtrack, you might just think you are in a galaxy far, far away.

Similar Beers and Wines To Enjoy Oga’s Cantina at Home

  • Bad Motivator IPA: Also made by Sierra Nevada, the Torpedo “Extra” IPA is very similar to the Bad Motivator. Alternatively, look for any 5% to 7% ABV West Coast IPA that mentions tropical or citrus notes.
  • Gamorrean Ale: Look for a hoppy American amber or red ale with about 5% ABV. However, avoid Irish red ales because they lack the hoppy character that makes Gamorrean Ale unique.
  • Gold Squadron Lager: Any full-bodied American lager is a great substitute. However, avoid light American lagers. They are too thin and crisp to match the body of the Gold Squadron Lager.
  • Trandoshan Ale: One of the hardest beers to replace, look for blood orange or tropical wheat ale. Alternatively, consider blending a wheat beer with a saison and a splash of blood orange juice. However, do not use regular orange juice.
  • White Wampa Ale: Look for a Germany-style hefeweizen with a prominent citrus character. While classified as a hefeweizen, a Belgian-style Wit is another great alternative.
  • Spice Runner Hard Cider: For the closest flavor, add red food coloring to Angry Orchard Crisp Apple. Alternatively, substitute any other hard cider.
  • Imperial Guard Wine: You can substitute any robust Cabernet Sauvignon with cherry or raspberry notes. For a more crimson tone, use red food color or just a splash of red cherry juice. But avoid using sweetened juice, as it can overwhelm the wine.
  • Toniray Wine: Choose a fruity Sauvignon Blanc with apple and citrus notes. Then add a small amount of blue and green food coloring to get the characteristic teal coloration.
  • Black Squadron Lager: Like the Gold Squadron Lager, you can substitute any American lager for this Oga’s Cantina beer. For added authenticity, add just a little honey to the glass first.
  • Sesid Seltzer: You can substitute a tropical or orange pineapple seltzer. If you can find orange pineapple seltzer, add a drop or two of orange extract to a pineapple seltzer.
