Join us Wednesday, April 17, 2024 for our George Lucas’ 80th Birthday Celebration virtual watch party. We’re celebrating The Maker’s 80th birthday with clips of George Lucas talking about his life, his student films, commercials, and other special features.
We will go live at 7:00 PM Eastern with a 30-minute preshow. The live stream starts at 7:30 PM Eastern and will loop to accommodate as many time zones as possible. The exact runtime is subject to change.

About George Lucas
George Lucas is an American filmmaker, writer, and entrepreneur best known for creating the Star Wars franchise. He was born on May 14, 1944, in Modesto, California, USA. Lucas attended the University of Southern California’s film school, where he developed a passion for storytelling and filmmaking.
Lucas gained widespread recognition and acclaim for his work as the creator, writer, and director of Star Wars trilogy. The first film, released in 1977, became a cultural phenomenon and revolutionized the film industry with its groundbreaking special effects, compelling story, and iconic characters.
Apart from Star Wars, Lucas also directed and produced other successful films such as American Graffiti (1973) and the Indiana Jones series, which he co-created with director Steven Spielberg.
Lucas also founded Lucasfilm Ltd., a film production company, and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a pioneering special effects company. Other divisions of Lucasfilm included Skywalker Sound, THX (from 1983 to 2002), LucasArts (now Lucasfilm Games), and Pixar (as The Graphics Group from 1979 to 1986).
Despite selling Lucasfilm to The Walt Disney Company in 2012, George Lucas remains a legendary and influential figure in film and entertainment history.
