SUMMARY:Disneyland October Lightsaber Meetup 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, October 3rd for another lightsaber meetup as we celebrate the anniversary of Star Wars Rebels. We will meet at 6:30 PM at the TIE Echelon with photos at 7:00 PM. \nStar Wars Rebels premiered on Disney Channel on October 3\, 2014\, with the Ghost crew sparking rebellion against the Galactic Empire for four seasons. \nStar Wars Rebels themed bounds and lightsabers are strongly encouraged\, but all lightsabers are welcome as long as they are not actual weapons. Per Disney Parks requirements\, blasters are not allowed. \nThis lightsaber meetup is completely free but does require admission to Disneyland. \nAs a reminder\, every member of our team is a volunteer. We do not hire or pay our crowd handlers\, photographers\, videographers\, streamers\, content creators\, or even celebrities who attend our event. \nAnyone is welcome to take personal photos or videos during the event. \nContent creators are also welcome. Please check in with our volunteers at least 15 minutes early so we can help facilitate a spot for you during the event. However\, we do request that you do not attempt to sell your content to event guests. \nWhat Is a Lightsaber Meetup?\nA lightsaber meetup is a fan gathering to celebrate lightsabers. The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord group is best known for hosting lightsaber meetups in the Disney Parks and at some Star Wars-related conventions. However\, we are not the only group that hosts meetups. \nEach meetup is a fun and safe environment to show off lightsabers and talk about Star Wars with other fans. While they are the focus of the event\, you do not need a lightsaber to participate in the events. We also encourage cosplays\, Batuu bounds\, or other Star Wars themed clothing. \nWe coordinate our events with the Disney Parks events team or convention organizers in advance. Our lightsaber meetups are always free\, but you may need to pay to attend events at the Disney Parks or certain conventions. Ticketing requirements are outlined in each event listing. \nOur team is comprised entirely of volunteers. No one is paid or compensated to work or appear at our events. This includes our event coordinators\, crowd handlers\, photographers\, videographers\, streamers\, content creators\, and celebrities. Also\, we are not compensated for hosting our events. \nFor complete details\, see our ultimate guide to lightsaber meetups. \nWhat Is the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord?\nThe Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord is a fan-run group celebrating all things Star Wars and Disney parks. Perhaps best known for hosting lightsaber meetups at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland and Disney World\, the SWGEDiscord is a family-friendly and inclusive space where fans can discuss all aspects of Star Wars and Galaxy’s Edge safely. \nIn addition to our saber meetups\, we host in-person and virtual events\, including a book club\, watch and listening parties\, trivia nights\, and more. Our Discord server has channels dedicated to planning your visit to Galaxy’s Edge on either coast\, the latest stock updates\, and talking about your favorite Star Wars shows\, movies\, books\, and comics.

It’s the third entry in the series of LEGO Star Wars holiday-themed specials\, following the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special (2020) and LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales (2021). \nThe story centers on Finn\, who’s trying to enjoy a relaxing trip aboard the Halcyon starcruiser\, the same vessel featured in Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience. Of course\, relaxation doesn’t go as planned. Finn keeps getting pulled into Force visions and stories from across the saga\, hearing tales involving characters like Luke Skywalker\, Leia\, Obi-Wan Kenobi\, and a vacationing Darth Vader\, all rendered in LEGO’s signature gag-heavy style. \nLike the other specials in this lineup\, it’s non-canon and played for laughs\, mixing characters and eras freely for comedic effect rather than fitting into the official timeline. The voice cast included several actors reprising or approximating their film and series roles\, and it runs about 45 minutes. SUMMARY:Life Day Celebration 2025 at Walt Disney World
DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday\, November 14th as we observe Life Day on Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida! Book your park reservations now. Life Day is Monday\, November 17th\, but we are observing the holiday early due to the park hours on the 17th. \nWe will tentatively meet at 8:45 PM ET at the TIE Echelon. Please arrive promptly\, as photos may start any time after the meetup time. While sabers are welcome\, Life Day Orbs and red Wookiee robes are strongly encouraged. We will take group photos in front of the TIE Echelon and the Millennium Falcon. \nDepending on the number of guests\, we may ask you to line up in advance to streamline the process for both our volunteers and Disney Cast Members. The line begins near the Refreshers in the Service Yard between the Courtyard Antenna and the Milk Stand. \nOur event photos typically take place after official park close\, but guests and Cast Members may still be moving around the park. Please keep all pathways clear so other guests and Cast Members can safely move through the park. \nPlease follow instructions from all SWGEDiscord volunteers as well as all Disney Parks cast members. Our volunteers will help line you up at each location\, give instructions on different photo poses\, and provide crowd control for both sabers and spectators. \nLook for volunteers wearing SWGEDiscord shirts\, buttons\, glow bracelets\, and other official identification. \nLife Day Meetup Details\nAll lightsabers are welcome as long as they are not actual weapons. Per Disney Parks requirements\, blasters are not allowed. We also encourage Batuu Bounds and other appropriate clothing as long as it meets the Disney Parks restrictions on costuming. \nThis lightsaber meetup is completely free but does require admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. \nIf you want to volunteer to help with the event\, please post in the #Reservations-And-Meetups channel on our Discord server or via Direct Message on Facebook\, Instagram\, and Twitter. \nAs a reminder\, every member of our team is a volunteer. However\, we do request that you do not attempt to sell your content to event guests. \nMeetup Reminders\n\nLightsaber dueling is strictly prohibited\, and we will ask guests to leave.\nMeet in the courtyard by the TIE Echelon promptly at 8:45 PM.\nPlease do not gather early\, as it makes non-saber meetup guests think there is a show. If you are hanging out\, please consider the marketplace\, the garage\, or the pathway leading off-world.\nDepending on how many beings come\, we may ask you to line up so we can break into smaller groups.\nSWGEDiscord volunteers will be wearing glow bracelets\, SWGEDiscord buttons\, or other identifying items if you have questions.\nAs always\, please be kind and respectful of Disney cast members\, SWGEDiscord volunteers\, and other meetup guests.\nIf you see something or feel uncomfortable\, please talk to a SWGEDiscord volunteer. SWGEDiscord volunteers will let you know when you can take your photos.\nPhotos from SWGEDiscord photographers are usually available within one to two weeks. The added time is needed to process their photos so they look amazing.\nEvent photos will get posted on the SWGEDiscord server\, the SWGEDiscord website\, the SWGEDiscord Facebook Event and Group pages\, and the SWGEDiscord Twitter and Instagram accounts as soon as possible.\n\nIf you have any questions\, ask in the #Reservations-And-Meetups channel on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord server or message us through Facebook or Instagram. \nWhat Is Star Wars Life Day?\nLife Day is an in-universe holiday celebrated throughout the galaxy. It originated on the Wookiee home planet of Kashyyyk and is a celebration of family\, joy\, and harmony. \nThe holiday first appeared in the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special\, which aired on television and has since gained a cult following due to its campy and unusual nature. SUMMARY:Star Wars Celebration Japan Lightsaber Meetup
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that we are going to host a lightsaber meetup during Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025. \nOur meetup will be held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba\, Japan on Sunday\, April 20th. We plan to meet at 1 PM. \nWe are currently targeting the “outdoor exhibition space” shown in the map below\, but the exact location will be determined once our Bothan spies rogue squadron scouts mod team has arrived at the convention to check things out. \nMap courtesy of the Virtual Cantina Network\nWe recognize that traveling across the galaxy can be a tricky business with a lot of contraband cargo and that even the BEST smugglers get boarded sometimes… so if you don’t have a lightsaber with you\, come out and join us anyway! It will be a great opportunity to meet other server members. \nPlease be very careful to adhere to all convention rules regarding cosplay. \nPlease arrive promptly\, as photos may start any time after the meetup time. Our team will take official photos and share them afterward on all of our channels. Friends\, family\, and spectators will have time to take photos as well. We expect the event to take 15 to 30 minutes\, but it may vary depending on the size of the crowd and other considerations. \nAs a reminder\, we have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and inappropriate behavior. If you feel uncomfortable for any reason\, please talk with a SWGEDiscord volunteer immediately so we can address the issue.\n \nIMPORTANT NOTE: FAA regulations prohibit lithium-metal batteries or lithium-ion batteries in checked luggage. This includes batteries installed in devices as well as spare batteries. Remember to pack all lithium batteries in your carry-on luggage. \nWhat Is a Lightsaber Meetup?\nA lightsaber meetup is a fan gathering to celebrate lightsabers. SUMMARY:Life Day Celebration at Walt Disney World
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday\, November 17th to celebrate Life Day on Batuu! We will tentatively meet at 8:45 PM ET at the TIE Echelon. Please arrive promptly\, as photos may start any time after the meetup time. \nWhile sabers are welcome\, Life Day Orbs and red Wookiee robes are strongly encouraged. \n \nOur event photos typically take place after official park close\, but guests and Cast Members may still be moving around the park. We do not hire or pay our crowd handlers\, photographers\, videographers\, streamers\, content creators\, or celebrities who attend our event. \nAnyone is welcome to take personal photos or videos during the event. \nContent creators are also welcome\, but please check in with our volunteers at least 15 minutes early so we can help facilitate a spot for you during the event. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and we will ask guests to leave.\n\nWhat to Know If This Is Your First SWGEDiscord Meetup\nOur meetups are fun and inclusive events where you can meet and chat with other Star Wars fans\, show off your latest sabers\, and\, most importantly\, join in group photos in front of the TIE Echelon and Millennium Falcon. \nIf this is your first meetup\, here is what you can expect: \n\nPhotos take place right after the park closes and usually take about 30 minutes.\nWe will have SWGEDiscord photographers at the TIE Echelon and the Millennium Falcon.\nDepending on the number of guests\, we may break you up into smaller groups.\nThere are opportunities for individual photos once we finish with all group photos.\nWe kindly ask that you wait until SWGEDiscord photographers are done before taking photos. The holiday first appeared in the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special\, which aired on television and has since gained a cult following due to its campy and unusual nature. Learn more about Wookiee Life Day. We also encourage cosplays\, Batuu bounds\, or other Star Wars-themed clothing. In recent years\, it is viewed more favorable due to the success of the TV series and the popularity of Ahsoka Tano. \n\nStrange Magic (2015) [PG]\nInspired by William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream\,” Strange Magic is a 2015 animated fantasy film directed by Gary Rydstrom. Serving as the Executive Producer\, George Lucas began developing the story for his three daughters around the time of the Prequels. \nThe voice cast includes Alan Cumming\, Evan Rachel Wood\, Elijah Kelley\, Meredith Anne Bull\, Kristin Chenoweth\, Maya Rudolph\, Sam Palladio\, and Alfred Molina. \nIn addition to writing the story and producing the film\, Lucas was heavily involved in selecting the songs. Lucasfilm Animation produced the film\, with Industrial Light & Magic providing special effects. \nThe film struggled at the box office and received mostly negative reviews. However\, it was acknowledged for its animation and character design. \nHow Do You Watch?\nYou can watch for free on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord server. We’ll be broadcasting from Meetup Room 1\, and you can text chat with others while you watch. \nNew to Discord? While they might occasionally include a blockbuster\, they mostly showed mid-range hits and cult classics. \nAdapting those ideas to our modern age\, we wanted to focus on George Lucas’ work outside of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. SUMMARY:The Super Sunday Double Feature: Radioland Murders & Red Tails
DESCRIPTION:Now through September\, we’re celebrating George Lucas’ 80th birthday with Super Sunday Double Feature virtual watch parties! Lucas turned 80 on May 14\, 2024. Perhaps best known for the Star Wars and Indiana Jones series\, we are exploring some of his lesser well-known films. \nThe Super Sunday Double Feature pays homage to classic movie matinees\, TV weekend movies\, and drive-in double features. We’ll be watching two films that George Lucas was instrumental in bringing to the big screen. \nThe double feature begins at 11 AM ET (10 AM CT\, 9 AM MT\, 8 AM PT\, 15:00 GMT) and runs all day. \nRadioland Murders will air at the following times: \n\n11:00 AM ET / 10:00 AM CT / 9:00 AM MT / 8:00 AM PT\n3:15 PM ET / 2:15 PM CT / 1:15 PM MT / 12:15 PM PT\n7:30 PM ET / 6:30 PM CT / 5:30 PM MT / 4:30 PM PT\n11:45 PM ET / 10:45 PM CT / 9:45 PM MT / 8:45 PM PT\n4:00 AM ET / 3:00 AM CT / 2:00 AM MT / 1:00 AM PT\n\nRed Tails will air at these times: \n\n1:00 PM ET / 12:00 PM CT / 11:00 AM MT / 10:00 AM PT\n5:15 PM ET / 4:15 PM CT / 3:15 PM MT / 2:15 PM PT\n9:30 PM ET / 8:30 PM CT / 7:30 PM MT / 6:30 PM PT\n1:45 AM ET / 12:45 AM CT / 11:45 PM MT / 10:45 PM PT\n6:00 AM ET / 5:00 AM CT / 4:00 AM MT / 3:00 AM PT\n\nThis is a ten-minute intermission with vintage commercials and trailers between each movie. \nThese virtual watch parties are free but exclusive to members of the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord server. Join our Discord server free now at discord.gg/galaxysedge. \n\nRadioland Murders (1994) [PG]\nDirected by Mel Smith\, Radioland Murders pays homage to classic screwball comedies. Willard Huyck and Gloria Katz originally wrote the screenplay following 1973’s American Graffiti\, based on a story by George Lucas. While Universal Studio announced the film was in development\, it remained unproduced throughout the 70s and 80s. \nLucas returned to the idea in the 90s\, but Universal was concerned that certain aspects of the script were no longer relevant to the MTV generation. On the advice of Ron Howard\, he hired Jeff Reno and Ron Osborn to revise the script. Reno and Osborn had previously worked on the hit TV series Moonlighting. \nThe ensemble cast includes Brian Benben\, Mary Stuart Masterson\, Scott Michael Campbell\, Michael Lerner\, and Ned Beatty. Michael McKean\, Bobcat Goldthwait\, Jeffrey Tambor\, Christopher Lloyd\, Billy Barty\, and Rosemary Clooney also appear in smaller roles or cameos. \nIt is also the final film appearance by legendary comedian and actor George Burns. Burns started as a vaudevillian comedian before transitioning to the radio and later TV and film. \nRadioland Murders was considered a box office bomb\, failing to recoup its production budget. It also received mostly negative reviews from critics. Still\, it has a small fanbase today to enjoy its slap-stick comedy. \n\nRed Tails (2012) [PG-13]\nRed Tails is a historical drama about the Tuskegee Airmen. George Lucas first conceived the film in the late 80s\, but production didn’t find track until the 2000s. \nLucas hired John Ridley to write the screenplay in 2007 and also discussed bringing in Samuel L. Jackson to direct and star in the movie. Ultimately\, he chose Anthony Hemingway\, who he had worked with on the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. George Lucas later directed reshoots written by The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder. \nTerrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. star\, with an ensemble cast that includes Nate Parker\, David Oyelowo\, Tristan Wilds\, Ne-Yo\, Elijah Kelley\, Marcus T. Paulk\, Leslie Odom Jr.\, Michael B. Jordan\, Method Man\, Bryan Cranston\, Kevin Phillips\, Andre Royo\, Lee Tergesen\, Gerald McRaney\, and Daniela Ruah. \nDistributed by 20th Century Fox\, it was the last film produced by Lucasfilm before being purchased by The Walt Disney Company in 2012. It failed to make back its production budget and received mixed reviews from critics. \nWhile it was criticized for its historical inaccuracies\, Lucas and the writers and director never intended to make a faithful representation. \nHow Do You Watch?\nYou can watch for free on the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord server. We’ll be broadcasting from Meetup Room 1\, and you can text chat with others while you watch. \nNew to Discord? Discord is a free messaging and discussion app available on all major mobile devices and computer operating systems. Just install the app\, create an account\, and join our server. \nOther events in the Super Sunday Double Feature series include: \n\nSunday\, June 16: THX-1138 (1971) and American Graffiti (1973)\nSunday\, July 14: Howard the Duck (1986) and Willow (1988)\nSunday\, August 4: Radioland Murders (1994) and Red Tails (2012)\nSunday\, September 8: The Clone Wars (2008) and Strange Magic (2015)\n\nWhy Not Include Star Wars or Indiana Jones Films?\nThe Super Sunday Double Feature is loosely based on movie matinees\, TV weekend movies\, and drive-in double features. While they might occasionally include a blockbuster\, they mostly showed mid-range hits and cult classics. \nAdapting those ideas to our modern age\, we wanted to focus on George Lucas’ work outside of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
