SUMMARY:Star Wars Celebration Japan Lightsaber Meetup
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce that we are going to host a lightsaber meetup during Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025. \nOur meetup will be held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba\, Japan on Sunday\, April 20th. We plan to meet at 1 PM. \nWe are currently targeting the “outdoor exhibition space” shown in the map below\, but the exact location will be determined once our Bothan spies rogue squadron scouts mod team has arrived at the convention to check things out. \nMap courtesy of the Virtual Cantina Network\nWe recognize that traveling across the galaxy can be a tricky business with a lot of contraband cargo and that even the BEST smugglers get boarded sometimes… so if you don’t have a lightsaber with you\, come out and join us anyway! It will be a great opportunity to meet other server members. \nPlease be very careful to adhere to all convention rules regarding cosplay. \nPlease arrive promptly\, as photos may start any time after the meetup time. Our team will take official photos and share them afterward on all of our channels. Friends\, family\, and spectators will have time to take photos as well. We expect the event to take 15 to 30 minutes\, but it may vary depending on the size of the crowd and other considerations. \nAs a reminder\, we have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment and inappropriate behavior. If you feel uncomfortable for any reason\, please talk with a SWGEDiscord volunteer immediately so we can address the issue.\n \nIMPORTANT NOTE: FAA regulations prohibit lithium-metal batteries or lithium-ion batteries in checked luggage. This includes batteries installed in devices as well as spare batteries. Remember to pack all lithium batteries in your carry-on luggage. \nWhat Is a Lightsaber Meetup?\nA lightsaber meetup is a fan gathering to celebrate lightsabers. The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Discord group is best known for hosting lightsaber meetups in the Disney Parks and at some Star Wars-related conventions. However\, we are not the only group that hosts meetups. \nEach meetup is a fun and safe environment to show off lightsabers and talk about Star Wars with other fans. While they are the focus of the event\, you do not need a lightsaber to participate in the events. \nWe coordinate our events with the Disney Parks events team or convention organizers in advance. Our lightsaber meetups are always free\, but you may need to pay to attend events at the Disney Parks or certain conventions. Ticketing requirements are outlined in each event listing. \nOur team is comprised entirely of volunteers. No one is paid or compensated to work or appear at our events. This includes our event coordinators\, crowd handlers\, photographers\, videographers\, streamers\, content creators\, and celebrities. DESCRIPTION:Pack your lightsabers because we are traveling to Star Wars Celebration London! \nIMPORTANT UPDATE: The meetup location has changed. See the updated details below. \nHelp us light up the London sky with sabers on Friday\, April 7th at 7:00 PM. We are meeting on the Western Terrace immediately across from the main entrance of ExCeL London. The red rectangle is the meetup location\, while the yellow is the main entrance. If necessary\, the blue rectangle is our backup location. \n \nWhile still not entirely clear\, it is best to assume this is inside of the security perimeter. As such\, event passes are likely required. Also\, we recommend entering the security perimeter at least 30 minutes before the event. \nPlease arrive promptly\, as photos may start any time after the meetup time. Our team will take official photos and share them afterward on all of our channels. Friends\, family\, and spectators will have time to take photos as well. We expect the event to take 15 to 30 minutes\, but it may vary depending on the size of the crowd and other considerations. \nPlease follow instructions from all SWGEDiscord volunteers as well as all event organizers and security. Our volunteers will organize the group\, give instructions on different photo poses\, and provide crowd control for both sabers and spectators.
